Helping Hearts and Hands is managed mainly by a volunteer steering committee.
One paid full-time staff supports their work. An advisory board oversees the work, which is administered by Betty Proctor, Voluntary Program Director. Helping Hearts and Hands is under the fiscal sponsorship of Jeffco Action Center, Inc. Betty Proctor, MSW
Ms. Proctor has volunteered as Director of Helping Hearts and Hands since her retirement from Jefferson County Human Services in 1997. She is also the founder of the program. Ms. Proctor worked for 29 years for Jefferson County Human Services - most of the time at an executive level. Prior to that she spent 20 years working in business. She has a Masters of Social Work from Denver University. Ms. Proctor has been involved in the start-up and programming of over 25 not-for-profits. She chaired the fundraising committee for the Kiwanis Share the Stars project. Ms. Proctor is a founder and member of the Colorado Social Legislation Council and also works on the legislative committees for the Seniors' Resource Center. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for Good News Jefferson County, the Colorado Coalition of Foundations, and the West Side Family Networks (Family to Family). Josh Stransky
Josh joined the Helping Hearts and Hands board in early 2008 and has recently stepped into the treasurer position. Born and raised in Colorado, Josh earned a degree from the University of Denver and continues to hone his financial skills as a Banking Officer with FirstBank of Colorado. Josh enjoys volunteering and spending time with his family and friends. Michelle Myers
Michelle Myers has been a member of the Helping Hearts and Hands Advisory Board since 1999. She was president of the board for 4 years, until late 2007, when she became co-chair, sharing the position with Chrisanne Wilhelmi. Michelle has her Masters in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago-Jane Addams College of Social Work. She has worked in Jefferson County over the last nine years, both as a School Social Worker and as a case manager with the School Medicaid Program. She spent 2 of those years as a service coordinator at Developmental Disabilities Resource Center. She currently stays home, taking care of her three young children. She also acts as secretary of her local MOMs Club chapter. Britton Slagle
Britton Slagle is Betty Proctor's program assistant. Britton is very excited to be a part of the Helping Hearts and Hands family, and is highly dedicated to the organization's mission. Britton graduated from Regis University where her passion to be a contributing community member was shaped. Britton has been an active volunteer and intern for multiple non-profits around the Denver area for numerous years and is thrilled to take this step towards a career in non-profit. She thanks the team at Helping Hearts and Hands for allowing her to be a part of their amazing vision!

Helping Hearts & Hands provides one-time assistance for individuals and families who have special needs that cannot be met through their own resources and threatens their self-sufficiency. We provide the community the opportunity and privilege to help people "who fall through the cracks" and cannot get help from anywhere else.
