A. Due to resource constraints, HHH limits its service to residents of Jefferson and Denver Counties.
Q. What is Helping Hearts & Hands' relationship to Family Tree?
A. In July of 2004, we came under the fiscal sponsorship of Jeffco Action Center, Inc. Jeffco Action Center, Inc. serves as the fiscal agent for HHH, enabling us to benefit from their non-profit status. We receive no funding from them. HHH pays a monthly fee to Family Tree for administrative support - eliminating the need for costly outside human resource, auditing and accounting services. (This helps to keep our administrative costs to a low 13% of expenses.)
Q. Are my contributions tax deductible?
A. Charitable contributions to 501(c)(3) organizations are generally tax deductible. HHH is under the fiscal sponsorship of Jeffco Action Center, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, enabling our donors to benefit from their non-profit status.
Colorado taxpayers who make donations to HHH may be eligible to receive an Enterprise Zone contribution tax credit.
Q. Will I get a receipt for my donation?
A. Yes, you will receive a thank-you on our letterhead acknowledging the amount of your donation.

Q. May I donate my money to help a specific case?
A. HHH cannot guarantee that your donation will be applied to a specific case. Restricting donations to certain individuals may preclude their eligibility for a tax deduction. However, the "expression of a desire" for the donation to benefit a particular individual or case may not preclude the deduction. We will respect your stated desires to help particular individuals and cases, with the understanding that once a financial goal for a case is realized, we will use your contribution to assist other individuals or families in need. Helping Hearts and Hands is under the fiscal sponsorship of Jeffco Acton Center, Inc. a 501(c)3 organization. Unrestricted donations to Helping Hearts and Hands may be eligible for a tax deduction.
Q. What is HHH's financial condition?
A. HHH has operated for 27 years thanks to consistent support of the community. HHH does not keep a reserve of program funds, choosing to help any qualifying family or individual as soon as their need is presented. Therefore fundraising is an ongoing activity. Give to HHH
Currently a grant from the Chandos Rice Foundation is restricted and pays for most of our staffing and administrative costs.

Q. What percentage of money donated is retained for administrative expenses?
A. 100 % of donations from individuals goes to assist clients. Administrative expenses are paid from grants and other fundraising. Our administrative costs in 2006 were less than 13% of our expenditures. Give to HHH

A. Donations from individuals are the cornerstone of our organization. We work diligently to assure that 100% of donations from individuals go to families in need. Additional funding comes from grants, churches, businesses and civic organizations. Give to HHH

A. Helping Hearts & Hands is under the fiscal sponsorship of Jeffco Action Center, Inc. , a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are not a stand-alone organization and therefore are not listed independently on either Guidestar or Colorado Nonprofit Association.
Q. For what things do you give assistance?
A. We have helped remodel several homes for handicapped individuals, given and repaired cars, assisted with rent and deposits, paid car insurance, obtained dentures, and the list goes on.
Q. Can HHH help me?
A. We do not accept self-referrals. If you are a resident of Jefferson or Denver County, have a need for one-time emergency assistance that will help you maintain or attain self-sufficiency and have been turned down by at least three human services agencies you may be eligible for our help. Have your caseworker contact us.
Q. How long does it take to get assistance?
A. Generally requests are made of us when people are in crisis. We do our best to approve requests as quickly as possible - usually within a few days. Give to HHH
Q. How may I volunteer?
