- Agency Representation-Our first and one of our most important requirements is that an agency representative must submit the application. Legitimate organizations working with people in crisis are welcome to apply for one-time emergency assistance for their clients. Examples of agencies that have applied for HHH funding include:
- Denver Human Services
- Jefferson County Human Services
- Developmental Disabilities Resource Center
- Family Tree
- Jeffco Action Center
- Senior Support Services
- Seniors' Resource Center
- Local schools
- Catholic Charities &
- Many different churches and other faith communities
- Location - HHH serves families and individuals living in Denver and Jefferson Counties. HHH was started in Jefferson County and expanded to include service to Denver County in 1998. Unfortunately, we do not have the staff or funds to expand our service area further at this time.
- One-time Assistance - HHH provides one-time assistance only. This means that once someone has accessed our funding, we are unable to assist them again. Please be sure your clients have not previously received funding from HHH. The only exception to this rule is energy assistance funded by Energy Outreach Colorado, which may be used once during each grant year (November through October).
- Other Sources of Funding - Due to the small amount of funding with which we are able to assist, we require that you seek three other sources of funding before making a request to HHH. This can help us "pool" funding with other sources to help meet the full need of the applicant.
- Income Level - Though there is no specific income guideline in order to qualify for assistance, we do request financial information about the applicant on the application. This information is required to demonstrate a current urgent financial need.
- Effect on Self-Sufficiency - The funds requested must have an effect of either helping the applicant attain or maintain self-sufficiency. We do not give assistance if the applicant does not have the means to sustain independence.
- Application Narrative - Be sure to complete this portion of the application. It helps us in two ways. First, it helps us to more fully understand the applicant's situation as we assess the application, and second, it allows us to share the story anonymously through this site and with local newspapers. Appeals to the public are an important funding source and allow us to continue to assist those in need.
