Case #9110 - Michael is a 50-year-old man that has come into bad times. He suffers from a back injury he endured in 2005 and has been unable to find employment. He has sent out 20 applications a week for 5 months straight. He has sold everything in his apartment to make rent payments to remain in the apartment he has had for 9 years. Michael is taking computer classes to make himself more available for jobs opening up in his community. He wants to keep his apartment, but the rent increased $50 this month. Michael was able to come up with $400 from local churches and agencies. He only needed the final $100 to remain in his apartment. Helping Hearts and Hands was able to help him with this amount. Now, Michael is able to remain in his apartment and continue his journey to self-sufficiency. He called our office just the other day to thank us for helping him to remain in his home.
Case #9078 - Angie came with a strong recommendation from her sponsor from Safe at Home Program at SafeHouse in Denver. She was noted as being kind, hard working, and a role model. Angie was able to secure a job and secure housing through her time at the shelter. Angie is ready to, "move up" from the very small efficiency studio to a one-bedroom apartment. Angie only needs $100 to make this long-standing dream come true. Helping Hearts and Hands was able to secure Angie's deposit and she moved in last week. Angie called our office from her new apartment and was so very grateful for the help she received. She was crying tears of joy. Angie is a success, exemplifying self-sufficiency.
